This Byham Theatre in Pittsburgh was built in 1765, according to United States historians. It originally played comedies, balls, plays, and various conventions. It played a vital part in segregation, hosting the Negro Drama League in 1932, which received support from both the black and white communities. The facility underwent a massive overhaul in 2002, bringing it up to modern standards. It retained some of the original artwork, but most was unrecognizable. The theatre has a seating capacity of 2,800 and primarily hosts comedy acts and small performances within its intimate setting.
